TRANG AN ECOLOGICAL AREA
Trang An is an ecological area, located in Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex which was recognized by USNESCO as a mixed natural and cultural property in Ninh Binh province. Trang An was actually named for the former southern citadel of Hoa Lu ancient capital in the 10th century.
The landscape here is featured by its limestone mountain system with geological age about 250 million years, through long weathered by the transformation of the earth, climate, marine transgression, and marine regression has brought in hundreds of valleys, caves, lakes and marshes. In this scenic ecosystem has many flooded forests, limestone mountain forests and monuments linked to the history of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu.
There are more than 10 tunnel-like caves through the Limestone Mountains, links the valleys together and of course it is ideal for a sampan boat ride. Although the scenery is incredible, the 3-hour boat-ride is not comfortable for everyone.
